Making Mathematics Accessible

  • Making Mathematics Accessible (4-8)

Description: This workshop focuses on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) supports and strategies integrated in mathematics lessons to provide ways to enhance the learning of students who struggle. Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in mathematical tasks and then analyze the associated student work and classroom videos to optimize student engagement and learning. The UDL supports and strategies will help to alleviate some of the barriers students encounter in any task and provide ways to open access to the mathematical concepts and skills.

Outcomes: The following questions will be addressed throughout the Institute generally and related to specific content:

Participants will be able to -

Enhance student understanding by incorporating components of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in mathematics lessons
