    The Membership and Affiliate Relations Committee (MARC) wishes to recognize the outstanding work of NCTM Affiliates in producing excellent professional outreach and engagement opportunities in the mathematics education community to connect with members, potential members, and/or communities.  

    The modes/methods of engagement and outreach are varied. They include but are not limited to keeping their membership apprised of the latest happenings in mathematics education, providing great ideas for improving the teaching and learning of mathematics, providing networking opportunities for members, or having a positive impact on mathematics education as a whole.

    Eligible Affiliates

    Any Affiliate in good standing at the time of submission and who has not won an Affiliate award, including a publication award, within the last five years. Maximum of one submission per affiliate per year.  Submission must be approved by the Affiliate President.

    What we are looking for. 

    To recognize Affiliates and their hard work with respect to outreach to and engagement of their communities. To recognize the work of Affiliates that could also inspire other Affiliates. 

    Submission

    In a three-page (single-spaced) narrative tell the story of the outreach and engagement activities of your initiative, how it was developed and implemented, including the individuals involved in the process, how the initiative actively engaged those involved, and the impact of the effort in supporting your mathematics education community.  You will also need a title for your initiative (50 characters max) and short description (150 words max). Submissions only accepted through the Application Portal.

    Review

    Submissions will be reviewed based on

    • Outreach: How the initiative works to connect with members, potential members, audiences of need, or relevant communities with respect to their affiliate.
    • Engagement: How the initiative works to connect with, support, and actively engage with their target audience in support of their roles and development.
    • Impact: How has this effort positively impacted those involved in the initiative and the affiliate. 

    Recognition

    Affiliates recognized with the Outreach and Engagement award will receive:

    • Recognition at the Delegate Assembly 
    • One complimentary registration to the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition in which the award is given.
