Wow! Subscribe to the MET Blog?

Why should you subscribe to NCTM’s MET Blog? When mathematics education is your passion, you often come across some wonderful people who should be applying for grants to help them expand the reach of what they are working on. When you hear about an exciting math project or professional learning opportunity that needs a small push to become a reality, funding by the Mathematics Education Trust can be the transformation that puts the wheels on your bandwagon. The Mathematics Education Trust (MET) was established in 1976 to channel the generosity of contributors through the creation and funding of grants, awards, honors, and other projects that support the improvement of mathematics teaching and learning.

    MET grants, scholarships, awards—

    • Provide funds to support classroom teachers (Pre-K–grade 12) in improving classroom practices and increasing teachers' mathematical knowledge.
    • Offer funding opportunities for prospective teachers and NCTM's Affiliates.
    • Recognize the lifetime achievement of leaders in mathematics education.

The following link will take you to awards that are presented to individuals or schools after a selective review of proposals submitted by applicants.

Awards range from $1,500 to $24,000 and cover costs such as:

    • Conferences, workshops, or seminars
    • Research and in-service training in mathematics
    • Classroom activities
    • Lessons and materials
    • Graduate courses or other mathematics coursework
    • Other teacher- or school-identified professional development activities

It's great to see the Mathematics Education Trust (MET) Blog up and running. Excellent first blog, Richard!

Let's hope those who are interested in learning more about the grants and awards offered by MET will follow the link

in the Blog, and then post questions, observations, and comments here, where others can contribute to the discussion.
