Teach Me More About Math! Teacher Professional Development at 2015 NCTM Conference

The proposed activity will involve the applicant attending the 2015 NCTM Research Conference and Annual Meeting and Exposition during April 2015.  The applicant will then apply the new learning gained from the conference to design and provide professional staff development for the teachers at Charles Stones Intermediate Center in the area of mathematics.  Prior to attending the NCTM conference, the applicant will host staff interviews to determine the areas of mathematics and instruction that the staff would like more support and professional development on.  Using these interviews, the canidate will select break-out sessions to attend, vendors to visit with, and classroom resources to obtain during the conference.  Following the NCTM conference, the candiate will design professional development opportunities for the teachers at Charles Stones Intermediate Center to attend that will address the previously identified topics in the teacher interviews, and will focus on improving teacher's mathematics instruction and enhancing student learning.
