Striving for Successful Teaching and Learning
Success in mathematics is more than being able to compute numbers and solve algorithms-it is being able to use and communicate mathematics to make sense of the world around us. The world in which we are preparing our students for is not yet imagined. How can we take students of a vast array of abilities and prepare them for this unknown world? By attending this conference, my hope is to learn a variety of strategies for problem solving, communication, and critical thinking that I can bring back to math teachers in my school, division, and the Commonwealth of Virginia to positively impact the lives of a diverse population of students. I look forward to expanding my network to a national level and learning new strategies at the NCTM Annual Conference.
