Edward J. Brennan has made many contributions to mathematics education for more than 40 years. His gift to the Mathematics Education Trust (MET) funds the Prospective Middle School Mathematics Teacher Course Work Scholarships.
Brennan received his B.A. and M.A. in history from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After graduate school, he taught in the elementary grades, where he discovered his passion for mathematics. He then completed certification to teach math and taught mathematics in the middle grades for several years. Brennan later attended the University of Southern California, where he received his Ph.D. in school administration.
For most of Brennan's career, he was employed 32 years with the Department of Defense Education Agency (DODEA) as a mathematics teacher, an elementary school teacher, a math and social studies administrator, and an elementary school principal. This job gave him the opportunity to teach overseas in England, Germany, and Midway Island.
Brennan currently lives in the suburbs of London. He continues to tutor math and also teaches part-time at the University of Maryland.
