    April is Mathematics Awareness Month, but many high schoolers lose interest in the subject and aren't prepared to excel in math in college.

    Only 42 percent of 2015 high school graduates who took the ACT - roughly 1.9 million students - were ready for college-level math, according to a report by the administors of the exam. And a 2015 U.S. News analysis of STEM activity in the U.S. found that interest in math across all demographics of high schoolers fell through 2014.
