The Delegate Assembly is NCTM's mechanism for Affiliates to make formal recommendations to NCTM about mathematics education issues or Council operational issues.
Regional caucuses. Held every year at the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition, the Delegate Assembly is preceded by regional caucuses. These caucuses allow Affiliate leaders to meet by region to discuss previously submitted resolutions and responses, introduce new resolutions, network with other leaders, and get information on new initiatives in mathematics education.
How to participate. Participation includes proposing resolutions and reviewing/discussing proposed and passed resolutions with your board. Informal feedback on resolutions can be submitted to NCTM Affiliate Services throughout the year at affiliates@nctm.org. Affiliates must be In Good Standing to be eligible to propose resolutions or vote at the Delegate Assembly and particpate in the Regional Caucus.
Submitting resolutions to NCTM. Proposed resolutions that are to be considered by the Delegate Assembly are due to NCTM no later than the deadline of November 2. Proposed resolutions should follow a prescribed format. The form is below.
Becoming a delegate. The Call for Delegates is sent in January. Only someone officially designated a delegate by the Affiliate's NCTM representative or president can vote on behalf of the Affiliate at the Delegate Assembly.
