Re: Delegate Assembly and Call for Resolutions Packet

The NCTM Delegate Assembly is composed of delegates from Affiliates In Good Standing. It is held at the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition. The 60th Annual Delegate Assembly will be held in Washington, D.C., 7:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009. Except for the Western Caucus, the Regional Caucuses will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 2:00–4:00 p.m. The Western Caucus will meet at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening following the opening session.

The Call for Resolutions packet includes the Delegate Assembly Resolutions Format document, a set of frequently asked questions about the Delegate Assembly process, a time line, and a business reply envelope. (See www.nctm.org/delegateassembly.aspx for the NCTM Board’s action on the resolution passed at the 2008 Delegate Assembly.) At this time, we request that you send proposed resolutions directly to the NCTM Headquarters Office (HQ). The deadline to submit proposed resolutions to NCTM Headquarters is November 1, 2008.

Proposed resolutions should be clear and concise. Each proposed resolution must be accompanied by a brief rationale and must bear the official name of the Affiliate and signatures of the Affiliate president and submitting officer, if the submitting officer is not the Affiliate president. Please use the NCTM 2008 Delegate Assembly Resolution Format. Each proposed resolution submitted should follow the given format.

We encourage you to contact your ASC regional representative for background information concerning the issue(s) that your group’s proposed resolution addresses. (See the ASC roster at www.nctm.org/asc.aspx.)

We look forward to working with you and encourage you to take advantage of this resolution process that allows your Affiliate’s recommendations to be shared prior to the Delegate Assembly.
