Delegate Assembly Time Line

September 2008 Call for Resolutions (sent to Affiliate president and NCTM representative)
November 1, 2008Proposed resolutions are due to NCTM Affiliate Services at NCTM Headquarters (HQ)
 November 2008

The Affiliate Services Committee reviews proposed resolutions submitted and classifies them as related to (M) Mathematics Education or (O) Operational issues. Then each resolution is either (R) Referred to an existing committee, task force, or HQ Staff or (D) Designated to be presented at the Delegate Assembly.

 January 2009 Affiliates that submitted proposed resolutions by the November 1 deadline are informed of their resolutions’ status. For those proposed resolutions that were referred (R) for a response, responses are sent between January and March 2009 to each Affiliate that submitted the proposed resolution.

 March 2009 Mailing from HQ: Delegate Packet–includes copies of all proposed resolutions, responses to proposed resolutions, and a schedule of Delegate Assembly activities (sent to delegate and alternate.)
 

Delegate Assembly Activities at the 2009 NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition

 April 22, 2009

 Regional Caucuses, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

Western Caucus at approximately 7:30 p.m. (after the Opening Session)*

 April 23, 2009 60th. Delegate Assembly, 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
 April 2009 Affiliates are notified that the 60th. Delegate Assembly Proceedings are posted online.

  • Only Affiliates that are In Good Standing are eligible to participate in any phase of the Delegate Assembly process. For proposed resolutions not submitted by the November 1 deadline, at most, one proposed resolution can be adopted by each caucus and presented to the Delegate Assembly. A resolution brought in this manner must be accompanied by a rationale and supporting evidence.
  • Affiliates are encouraged to work with their board and members to develop proposed resolutions and to submit all proposed resolutions on or before the November 1 deadline.

*The Board of Directors approved the recommendation from the 58th Delegate Assembly that the Western Caucus will meet following the opening session of the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition in Salt Lake City (2008) and Washington, DC (2009) as a pilot.
