Focus Issues of NCTM Journals, 2009-10
Focus issues are the special editions of the NCTM Journals that carry one theme throughout the journal, usually a "hot topic" in math education
- October 2009 TCM: Equity: Teaching, Learning, and Assessing Mathematics for Diverse Populations—This special issue will include articles that describe curricular ideas, teaching practices, and assessment strategies that impact both the mathematics teaching and the learning of diverse student populations.
- November 2009 MT: Laying the Foundation—Proof in its various forms should be an integral part of the entire mathematics curriculum. This special issue addresses ways to motivate students, help them understand the importance of clear, reasoned arguments, and find strategies to support their learning of the process.
- April 2010 MTMS: Technology in Middle School Mathematics—The use of technology has added new dimensions to the mathematics classroom. Articles in this issue will describe how software, electronic white boards, calculators, and interactive online learning, to name a few, are transforming middle school mathematics.
