How do I tell the world what is going on in Chicago?

You can join the conversation through Twitter (hashtag #NCTMRegionals), Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. You can also link the NCTM conference app to your social media pages.

Does NCTM offer a conference introduction?

Yes. NCTM will have a Regional Conference Overview & Orientation on Thursday and Friday, 7:15–7:45 a.m., at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in Grand Ballroom A. It will provide activities and information about the conference format and how to make the most of your time in Chicago.

Does NCTM have something just for new teachers?

Yes. NCTM presents a New and Preservice Teachers Workshop on Thursday and Friday, 9:45–11:00 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in the Gold Coast room.

Does NCTM offer a conference discount on books?

Yes. Take advantage of the conference special and save 25% off the list price on all your NCTM bookstore purchases.

What books will be available at the bookstore?

NCTM offers a wide variety of books and other special products in the bookstore. We will have many long-time favorites, such as the Essential Understanding Series, Principles to Action: Ensuring Mathematics Success for All, and Success from the Start: Your First Years Teaching Elementary Mathematics. We also will have many new books and some just released.

Are purchases in the bookstore tax-free?

Note on sales tax exemptions: To be considered exempt from sales tax in the NCTM Bookstore, you must provide a copy of an Illinois tax exemption certificate at the time of purchase. NCTM is required by law to keep a copy of the certificate; we cannot return it to you. To qualify, you must pay with a purchase order, check, or credit card from the school to which the Illinois exemption certificate is issued. NCTM cannot accept personal checks, personal credit cards, or cash in conjunction with tax exemption certificates. Tax exemption certificates for states other than Illinois are not valid for this Regional Conference.

Can I join NCTM or renew my membership at the conference?

Yes. Stop by the member services booth in NCTM Central to renew your membership or join for the first time and be placed into a drawing for a $25.00 NCTM gift certificate. Also, pick up activities, lessons, and sample journals at member services that you can use back in the classroom.

Where do I find information about grants and scholarships?

Visit the Mathematics Education Trust booth in NCTM Central and learn how to apply for the many MET grants, scholarships, and awards that are available to NCTM members. MET channels the generosity of contributors through the creation and funding of grants, awards, honors, and other projects that support the improvement of mathematics teaching and learning.

Is there a place for informal gatherings and discussion?

Yes, the NCTM Networking Lounge is a prime location to meet up with new and existing colleagues between presentations! In addition, many small and informal sessions are located in the Networking Lounge. Download the conference app to receive alerts for scheduled networking meetups!
