This workshop will provide helpful insightful resources, materials, and fun prizes to those in their first five years of teaching or those seeking certification. There will be a session scheduled on Thursday and Friday.

NCTM's Program Overview and First Timers' Orientation sessions will provide you with valuable information to help you learn how to make the most of your conference experience, from learning about the conference format, to hearing about the types of presentations and what may benefit you most.

Thursday, November 19
Focus one full day on the Focus of the Year topic, Connections: Linking Concepts and Context. The strand begins with a morning kickoff session and concludes with an end-of-the-day Reflection session. In between, you choose from among a number of sessions exploring the topic, all marked with the symbol (above). Immerse yourself in the topic and collaborate with leaders and colleagues. Receive a personalized certificate by mail when you attend the Kickoff, at least one Learn↔Reflect session, and the culminating Reflection session.

Is Math Real? Sure, It Connects to Everything!
We will engage in several intriguing situations that highlight mathematical connections. From personal health to planetary motion, we will explore instructional settings that will help students see and understand the ways mathematics connects with their futures. Come and recommit to engaging all students in challenging mathematics!
Learn↔Reflect Reflection Session
Thursday, November 19
In the culminating session of the Learn↔Reflect strand, participate in a facilitated discussion of the reflection questions from the Kickoff session. Anyone who attends the Kickoff session, at least one Learn↔Reflect session during the day, and the Reflection session will earn a personalized certificate, which will be mailed following the conference.
