Of course! NCTM members come from all over the world. However, issues of our journals may take up to several weeks to reach international members, depending on their location.

An e-membership is available, which provides instant access to articles from the journals you subscribe to.

Do I need to join at a particular time of the year? You may join NCTM at any time. You’ll receive a full year’s benefits dated from the first day of the following month.

How do I access my online benefits?Go to our My NCTM page and Sign In. Your username is your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail shortly after joining that explains the login procedure.  Please note: If you change your primary e-mail address in our database, your username will also change, but your password will not.

• If you would like to join as a full individual member or e-member, you may apply online and pay by credit card. 
• If you would like to purchase another membership type  and would like to pay by credit card, please call us at 800-235-7566. 
• You can also download an application  from our Web site and fax it to us at 703-476-2970 if you plan to pay by credit card or purchase order. 
• If you would like to pay by check, please download an application and mail it to us at National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, 1906 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191-1502.

How many journal article downloads do I get with my membership?

For full memberships, a maximum of 25 free downloads are allowed daily (there is no yearly limit) from the journal(s) to which you’re subscribed. There is no free access to the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education (JRME), except for the selected public articles.

You will have online access within three business days after your order is processed (usually within 24 hours if you apply online, unless you join on Friday or Saturday).  Membership cards are mailed within two weeks of joining.

If several of my coworkers are members, can we be billed at one time for all of our memberships? Yes. A purchase order or combined check should be submitted as payment.  This payment option will not change the effective dates of the individual memberships.

Is there a discount if multiple teachers from my school attend a conference?

Yes, if one person registers the teachers in advance as a group of five or more. A single payment for the entire group must be made. All materials will be sent to a single person.

May I pay for two years of membership dues at a time?
A: 

May I pay for two years of membership dues at a time?Certainly! NCTM offers a 10% discount on dues for two-year memberships and a 15% discount on dues for three-year memberships for full individual members, emeritus members, and e-members. Institutional and PreK-8 School members may purchase two or three years of membership at a time to lock in rates, but they will not receive a discount. The multiyear plan is not available to student e-members.

What grants and scholarships does NCTM offer?
A: 

NCTM offers grants and scholarships through the Mathematics Education Trust (MET). The MET program supports mathematics teaching and learning through the funding of teacher-initiated efforts that benefit all children. MET provides funds to support classroom teachers and prospective teachers in improving classroom practices and increasing mathematical knowledge. When I join NCTM, am I automatically enrolled in my state or regional association of math teachers (or vice versa)? No, NCTM's Affiliates are independent organizations. Because of this, membership in one of our Affiliate associations does not automatically equal membership in NCTM.  Some Affiliates allow their members to join NCTM at the same time they join the Affiliate, but memberships purchased this way may take up to two months to be activated.
