On Friday, April 19, 2013, the Mathematics Education Trust (MET) of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics hosted a MET Celebration and Silent Auction. This sold out event was held in the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.
We had much to celebrate—the 2013 NCTM Lifetime Achievement Awardees, Carol E. Malloy and James M. Rubillo; all the past Lifetime Achievement awardees for their distinguished services to mathematics education; and the generosity of all MET donors, especially honorees who have named MET funds and whose gifts to MET continue to provide leadership development.
The celebration featured photos and memories of current and past MET grant and honor awardees. Attendees enjoyed light refreshments, conversation, live music, and a silent auction with irresistible items that included a generous donation from Texas Instruments of two classroom sets of TI-Nspire™ CX Navigator™ Systems.
The event grossed approximately $18,500 and all proceeds will support MET’s ongoing awards and grants.
NCTM thanks attendees, volunteers, Silent Auction item donors, and the event sponsor, Forrest T. Jones & Company, for their generous support. On behalf of everyone whom your generosity has touched, thank you! Without you, MET would not be able to award much needed funds to mathematics teachers, prospective teacher, and other mathematics educators.
