University Credit for Online Interactive Institutes

Institute University Credit 

For an additional fee, course credit is available from the University of San Diego after successful completion of the Institute and/or Extended Online Professional Development Course.

University of San Diego (USD) 

A total of 3 graduate extension credit hours are available from the University of San Diego (USD). 1 credit hour is available for participation in the face-to-face portion of the Institute and 2 credit hours are available for participation in the Extended Online Professional Development Course (you have to sign up for this separately when registering for the Institute). Credit hours are generally dependent on the intensity of each course; essentially 15 hours of contact work is equivalent to one unit of credit. Credits may be transferred to a degree program, but participants should first consult with the degree-granting organization for this permission. USD credits are most often used for teacher certification and/or salary enhancement purposes. You have 10 days following the first class meeting for this training to register online.

How to Apply:

  1. Register for the Institute.
  2. Proceed to the home page for the USD Department of Continuing Education - - and note the "Log In" portion of the page on the upper right side.  In this location:

First Time Users: Click on the box titled "Create an Account" and fill in the information required on that page.  When finished, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. This will take you back to the home page. On the blue banner at the top of the page, click on "Professional Development" and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) hyperlink.

Past User:  Simply "log in" by typing in your email address (the address you used when you first registered) and your discrete password, next click the "Enter" key on your keyboard or click on the box labeled "log in."  On the next page click on "Professional Development" in the banner at the top of the page and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics hyperlink.

  1. On the "Scheduled Classes" page, click on the Institute for which you wish to register. If you are just participating in the face-to-face portion, choose that option. If you have also signed up for the Extended Online Course you can choose that in addition to the face-to-face option.
  2. On the "Course Information" page, click on "Add to Cart" and click on the "Check Out" button. The face-to-face Institute is 1 unit and the extended online course is 2 units @ $65 per unit.
  3. Complete the information on the "Shopping Checkout" page and click on the "Submit" button.

When a successful enrollment and payment have been made the person registering will receive an automatic registration verification email from the University.

After successful completion of the face-to-face and/or extended online professional development components of the Institute, you will receive a grade and 1-3 hours of graduate extension credit from USD. There is no matriculation fee required and the first transcript is complimentary.
