Immerse yourself in two and a half days of professional development dedicated to algebra readiness, and walk away with practical methods to prepare your students for success.

Our Interactive Institute offers a variety of activities and instructional techniques to give your students opportunities to develop strong algebraic reasoning skills. You’ll also learn strategies that will help align your teaching with the Common Core State Standards while giving your students the tools they need to succeed.

Location & Facilities

Hard Rock Hotel San DiegoAll Institute activities will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.  Located in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the Hard Rock Hotel puts you steps away from fabulous restaurants and rich cultural offerings that include art galleries, concert venues and museums. 

Discounted room rates are available for Institute participants, but you must book your room through NCTM to receive special rates.

American Sign Language Interpreters 
If you require an interpreter please submit your request before June 13, 2014. After this date, requests for interpreters cannot be guaranteed, however every effort will be made to accommodate requests.   

Please note: Onsite requests for interpreters cannot be guaranteed without advance notice.

Visual Impairment 
For blind or visually impaired registrants that require an aide or personal assistant to help you navigate the Institute, NCTM will register your aide as a complimentary guest as long as they are a non-teaching individual. 

Wheelchair and Scooter Rentals
Institute session room locations are sometimes spread out and distances between sessions can be considerable. If you can get along without a wheelchair but feel that you may need one to navigate the distances at the hotel, electric scooters can be rented from:

Attire for the Institute

Business casual attire is appropriate for all Institute events. We recommend that attendees dress in layers because of the variation in room temperatures. Comfortable shoes are essential.
