Sharing Teaching Ideas: Multilayered Maximum-Minimum Problem

John Sherfinski

March 2002, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 218

Abstract:
What initially appears to be a standard maximum-minimum problem presents, with a particular independent variable, a wealth of calculus and algebraic subplots. Graphing calculator technology is used to reinforce the "pencil and paper" solution and to open the problem to lower level mathematics courses.
