Can You Fathom This? Connecting Data Analysis, Algebra, and Geometry with Probability Simulation

Abstract:
Ways in which data simulation and visualization tools have opened up new pathways for learning through the exploration of several rich mathematical tasks. The availability of intuitive, drag-and-drop data visualization and simulation tools blur the distinction between algebra, geometry, and data analysis in the secondary school curriculum. The data analysis and representation tool Fathom is discussed and procedures explained.
