Marion Walter

April 2004, Volume 9, Issue 8, Page 418

Abstract:
An activity about the U.S. Postal Service's Love stamp focuses on teaching the various measurements that it contains in various quadrants of the design. Mathematics Detective articles are open-ended, real-world problems that encourage problem solving, reasoning, communication, and mathematical connections. Mathematics Detective is a regular feature of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School and highlights activities that develop conceptual understanding of mathematics topics. Teacher notes and solutions are also included.
