Abstract:

An activity about numeration systems focused on teaching the Aztec and Mayan systems.

Mathematical Roots are hands-on, open-ended activities that encourage problem solving, reasoning, communication, and mathematical connections. Mathematical Roots is a regular feature of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School and highlights activities that develop conceptual understanding of mathematics topics. Includes student activity sheets and teaching tips.
