The Thinking of Students: Changing Sizes

Edward Mooney

February 2007, Volume 12, Issue 6, Page 348

Abstract:

One student's solution to the Changing Sizes problem. The problem required students to change dimensions of a cereal box while maintaining the volume.

The Thinking of Students shares the thinking of middle school students as they explore and communicate mathematics. It highlights students' work, including projects, investigations, or creative solutions to the problems in the monthly menu. The department is a forum for sharing students' discoveries, thoughts, problem solutions, or even challenges. The Thinking of Students is a regular department of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School.
