Mathematical Explorations: Getting a Bee in Math Class

Abstract:

An activity about Honey Bees focused on teaching mathematical concepts, such as number sequences, along with area, perimeter, and volume. 

Mathematical Explorations are hands-on, open-ended activities that encourage problem solving, reasoning, communication, and mathematical connections. Mathematical Explorations is a regular feature of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School and highlights activities that develop conceptual understanding of mathematics topics.  Activity sheets are included.
