Encouraging Perseverance in Elementary Mathematics: A Tale of Two Problems

Abstract:
A second-grade class works on two challenging but engaging problems. Although it took students several days to solve the problems, the classroom atmosphere of persistence and perseverance that their teacher created helped them relish the challenge.
