Supporting Teacher Learning: Teachers Learning about Data Display: Connecting Mathematics and Science Inquiry

Abstract:

Article describes a project the authors designed for their preservice elementary teachers (PSTs) aimed at supporting PSTs’ learning about data and science inquiry. The authors describe how the project strengthened PSTs’ content knowledge for teaching data display in mathematics and inquiry investigations in science and discuss how PSTs and teachers might implement these ideas in classroom practice. The Supporting Teacher Learning department serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and a source of activities and pedagogical strategies for teacher educators in their day-to-day work with prospective and practicing teachers.
