Math in Riley's world
Author: Karen L. Kritzer
Journal: Teaching Children Mathematics
Publication Date: August 2011
Kritzer (2007) describes the activities that she did with her child Riley, a preschooler. Similar to the other articles in this chapter, the author points out that mathematics is everywhere and all around them. Contexts found all around the house, such as receiving allowance and baking cupcakes, help children see the relevance of mathematics in their lives, creates positive dispositions toward mathematics, and prepares them for kindergarten.
