Q: 

How can I add an additional journal to my existing membership? When will I have online access and start receiving print copies?
A: 

Adding an additional journal to your existing membership can only be done by calling Customer Service at (800) 235-7566. Online access to your additional journal will be activated 2 to 3 days after credit card approval.

You will receive the current issue and back issues of the journal to correspond with your current membership cycle. Regular mailings of future issues will begin within 6 to 8 weeks.

How can I find an article that was published in the Mathematics Teacher from January 1986 to December 2000?
A: 

Or in Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School from April 1994 to May 1999? Or in Teaching Children Mathematics from September 1983 to May 2000?

Q: 

How can I get a copy of a back issue of an NCTM journal?
A: 

Individual members have online access to back issues of Teaching Children Mathematics (2000-present), Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School (2000-present), Mathematics Teacher (2000-present), ON-Math (2002-present), and the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education (1997-present).

Print copies of back issues of NCTM journals (from the past 2 years) are available to members and nonmembers for $9.50 each. Focus issues are $10 each. Call (800) 235-7566 to place an order.

How can I get a copy of a back issue of an NCTM yearbook?
A: 

Back issues of NCTM yearbooks are available for purchase online.

Full volumes of journals and hard copies of yearbooks since 1977 are available on microfilm or microfiche from ProQuest Information and Learning, 300 North Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48106, (734) 761-4700.

NCTM yearbooks through 1954 are available on microfiche from ERIC Document Reproduction Service. Abstracts and ordering information are available in ERIC's Resources in Education. Call (800) 443-3742 for details

 
Q: 

How can I get a copy of an article in an NCTM journal to which I do not subscribe?
A: 

Individual members may purchase articles from journals to which they do not subscribe in the Members Only section of the Web site.

Articles are posted as PDF files and may be downloaded with Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or higher. You will have access to any articles you purchase for 1 year. You may save each file on your hard drive, and print out each article for future use.

How can I get a copy of an article that is not online?
A: 

Photocopies of individual articles are available at $6 per title. A shipping charge will be added to your order.

Send remittance with specific quantity, title, journal, month, and year to Customer Service, NCTM, 1906 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191-1502.

How do I change my username and password in Members Only?
A: 

At this time you cannot change your preassigned username and password. You can inquire about your username and password by going to Forgot Login Info? or by e-mailing your name and address to password@nctm.org.

How do I get an article published in an NCTM journal?
A: 

Read the submission guidelines for NCTM journals. The editorial panel of each journal reviews submitted articles.

How do I get copyright permission?
A: 

Send a written request to Copyright Permissions, NCTM, 1906 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191-1502; fax: (703) 476-2970; or e-mail: permissions@nctm.org. Your request should include the following information:

  • The name of the source you wish to use (identify the issue by month and year if the source is a journal)

  • The name of any particular chapter or article you wish to use

  • The page numbers of the material you wish to use

  • The purpose for which you wish to use the material (e.g., for a course packet, a commercial publication, or a school-district curriculum guide)

  • The number of copies of the material you wish to make

Requests must contain complete information in order to be processed. Requests are typically processed within 15 business days.

How do I get electronic copyright permission?
A: 

Send a written request to Electronic Copyright Permissions, NCTM, 1906 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191-1502; fax: (703) 476-9027; or e-mail: permissions@nctm.org. Your request should include the following information:

  • Your company or institution's name and mission

  • The purpose of your project containing NCTM links, screen shots, Standards, or publications (include the title, mission, description, intended audience, medium, cost to users, number of users and/or copies of material, and projected publication date)

  • The name of the website, publication, or Standard(s) you would like to use

  • An explanation of how you will use the NCTM resource(s)

Credit card orders by mail take approximately 1 week from receipt to activation of online access. You will receive hard copies beginning with the first issue of your new membership cycle.

When will I receive my journal?

If you joined online through Members Only or by phone, you will have online access to your journal(s) and archives within 2 to 3 business days. Credit card orders by mail take approximately 1 week from receipt to activation of online access. Check or purchase orders take approximately 3 weeks from receipt to activation of online access.

Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after receipt of order to receive your first print journal (longer if you join between May and July). Teaching Children Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, and Mathematics Teacher are published nine times a year, September through May. The Journal for Research in Mathematics Education is published five times a year--January, March, May, July, and November.

 
Q: 

Where can I find the annual theme for your journals and other publications?
A: 

There is no annual theme for volumes of NCTM journals or for published material. Each school journal has a themed focus issue each year. See NCTM's Call for Manuscripts for details.
