Information Speakers Must Know
A/V & Internet
Your presentation has
been scheduled based on your audio/visual request in your proposal. To confirm your audio/visual equipment request, please log in to the Speaker's Corner using
the link provided in Step #1 at the top of this page or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
One screen and one wired microphone will be placed in each presentation room.
If you need additional
audio/visual equipment, it is your responsibility to order and pay for the
additional equipment. Use this form to order additional equipment.
Internet access is not provided in presentation rooms. If your presentation requires Internet access, it is your responsibility to order and pay for it. For Internet pricing and ordering instructions at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, click here.

use during their presentation. This will allow the audio/visual company to hook
your laptop to the LCD Projector if one was requested.
Bursts are 30-minute
presentations that focus on a specific topic or idea. In New Orleans, Bursts
are placed in meeting rooms with tables. Hands-on activities at the
tables are not expected for this presentation format.

After leaving a message, please send an email confirming your cancellation to email@example.com. Do not leave a message with anyone else at NCTM as your message may not be relayed to us in time.
If you must cancel your presentation, please notify the NCTM Annual Meeting Team immediately. There will be no substitutions or replacement speaker for your presentation. Cancellations must be sent in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.

your co-speaker’s contact information (name, address, telephone number, and

after September 15, 2013, will not be listed in the program book.
NCTM policy prohibits
the use of copyrighted materials in your presentation unless the holder of the
copyright has granted prior permission. This also applies to music that is
played during the presentation.
Written permission to tape or record presentations must be obtained directly
from the speaker involved at least thirty days before the NCTM Annual Meeting
& Exposition. The request must contain a statement indicating the intended
use of such a recording or videotape. The person making the request should also
inform the NCTM Headquarters Office in writing at least two weeks prior to the
NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition.

Gallery Workshops consist of round tables for hands-on
participants and gallery seating for participants around the perimeter of the
room to watch. Your primary responsibility is to present an interactive, hands-on
workshop to the people seated at the tables. You may involve the gallery in any
way that you wish. Suggestions for gallery participation include the

As an added resource to our attendees, NCTM is offering speakers the option to upload handouts for their presentations. To upload your handouts please follow these instructions:
- Login to the Speaker's Corner using the link at the top of this page.
- Under the title of your presentation, click "Speaker Confirmation and Speaker's Corner."
- Be sure to read all guidelines and pertinent information before proceeding.
- On the Speaker's Corner page, click the "Upload Handouts" button. A new window will open.
- Follow the directions provided at the top of the screen to upload your presentation handouts.
- Once uploaded, your handouts will appear on your Speaker's Corner page. You may have to refresh the page in order to view the handouts in the list.
Please note: it make take up to 24 hours for attendees to have access to your handouts. Handouts will be availabe up to one month after the conference.
Speakers are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. NCTM negotiates the lowest possible rates at our Conference hotels. In fact, we work closely with the hotels to be sure our rates are the most discounted. And you will never be charged a booking or service fee like online discounters do. So book your room early to secure the lowest rate at your preferred hotel before rooms sell out. More information is available on the Annual Meeting hotel and travel page.
The 2014 Annual
Meeting and Exposition will take place in New Orleans, LA. Presentations

Due to trademark
restrictions, use of the NCTM logo is restricted to NCTM staff and those who
receive prior written permission from the NCTM headquarters office. Specific
guidelines must be met for permission of use to be granted. Upon written
request, art related to the 2014 Annual Meeting & Exposition may be sent to
speakers to include in their presentation.

A pre-written Press Release will be available online in April 2014 for speakers who wish to inform their colleagues and community that they have presented at the 2014 NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition.
Join NCTM in going
green by picking up your Annual Meeting program book when you arrive on site in
New Orleans. NCTM will not be mailing program books in advance of the

Only Gallery Workshops
qualify for reimbursement of hands-on materials. Sessions and Bursts do not
qualify for reimbursement; however, handouts are still encouraged. Gallery
Workshops will be reimbursed a maximum of $2.00 per participant based on the
listed capacity of the assigned room.
The Reimbursement Form should

All presentation rooms will be pre-set for each day’s
presentations. Do not move furniture or tape or hang items on the walls. View examples of the Annual Meeting room sets.
All presentations are
attended on a first come, first seated basis. All rooms will be cleared between
presentations to allow any attendees who may have been waiting a chance to

- Students must be 16 years or older in order to enter
presentation rooms or the Exhibit Hall, and must have a Student badge.
- To comply with fire code regulations every person in a
presentation room must have a seat. For this reason, the number of
students in a presentation must be limited so that there are sufficient
seats for registered participants.
- Students are only allowed to attend the presentation in
which they appear. Students who wish to attend other presentations or
visit the Exhibit Hall must register for the conference.
Tips for a Better
- You should actively engage the listener and provide
opportunities for participants to observe teaching modes other than a

- Please take a moment to introduce yourself to the
audience. If you need help in distributing materials during your
presentation, ask one of the participants to assist you.

guidelines as administered by Fire Marshals. Volunteers are responsible
for ensuring you and your participants’ safety. Please assist volunteers
to ensure rooms do not exceed capacity. The maximum capacity of the room
will be listed on signs outside the room. No standing or sitting on the
floor will be allowed. Violations of the fire code could cause the
conference to be shut down.
