    Grade: 3rd to 5th

    In this two-player e-example, students take timed turns racing to the end of each fraction line by moving one or more of their markers to sum to a given fraction value. Options include a pass and restart button.

    Activity

    Instructions

    First Player

    • Drag your marker(s) along the track(s) so that all the markers moved add to the total amount shown in the fraction box.
    • Click on "move" when done.
    • If the numbers above the markers correctly add to the fraction shown on the box, the next player can take a turn.
    • Otherwise, the game will return an error message. Player 1 will get one more try before they lose a turn.
    • Players who cannot complete their turn may click on the Pass button.
    • All plays must be made before the timer runs out.

    Second Player

    • Follows the same rules using their own marker(s).

    How to Win

    The first player to move all his or her markers to the right side of the Fraction Track board wins.
