Robert Q. Berry III Ph.D. is the Samuel Braley Gray Professor of Mathematics Education and the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia and the immediate Past President of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Berry co-edited the 2020 book High School Mathematics Lessons to Explore, Understand, and Respond to Social Injustice which focuses on teaching mathematics for social justice. Robert Berry holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mark Freed is a mathematics education specialist at the Oregon Department of Education whose responsibilities include content standards support and instructional materials review.  Mark is passionate about re-imaging math systems through the current revision of the Oregon math standards which includes equitable access for all students to data science and high school pathways.  For over 20 years, he has worked at a variety of levels in mathematics education including teaching middle and high school math, as well as undergraduate courses for pre-service elementary teachers.  In addition to mathematics, Mark enjoys travel, photography, and camping around Salem, Oregon with his family. 

Dr. Paul Gray is the Chief Curriculum Officer for Cosenza & Associates, LLC, and the President-Elect (2020-2021) of NCSM. Serving in education for 25 years, Paul taught mathematics and science in Oklahoma and Texas and served as a mathematics leader at the district and regional levels. Paul is a past-president of Texas CTM and to the surprise of his math teachers, authors mathematics instructional materials. A 7th-generation Texan, Paul and his husband live in Dallas. 

National Board Certified Instructor, Mr. Greg Lakey decided to pursue education as a way to provide the type of motivation and encouragement he wished he would have received from teachers in his youth. Over the last 16 years he has taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry & created, implemented and received A-G accreditation for 2 courses;  Accelerated Integrated 9th grade Mathematics and Math 9. Mr. Lakey is a firm believer in “exploratory” curriculum that is hands-on, tangible and applicable. 

Sean Nank is a PAEMST recipient, professor, consultant, author, math teacher, and facilitator.  He periodically works for multiple state and federal agencies including the US Department of Education, National Science Foundation, and other organizations.  Sean is an NCTM MARC representative and was appointed to represent the USA at ICME12.  He is the president of the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council. His current research includes creating equitable space for ALL student voices while integrating students’ passions into K-12 classrooms via technology, curricula, and Instructional Routines.
