When that chance to take an exceptional course arrives. . . . (Wait. Please hold that thought!)

First, we would like to thank you. We meet many math teachers and preservice teachers during the year. It’s apparent that you have the passion and dedication to help your students succeed in understanding the beautiful language of mathematics. You give selflessly of your time, energy, and resources. Sometimes it’s hard, but know that you are making a difference in a young person’s life. And that, in itself, is a great reward. Thank you for all your efforts.

When we talk with you at conferences, sessions, and math community events, we hear your enthusiasm for mathematics when you describe an innovative lesson, project, or program that you want to implement in your classroom. And we sense your commitment when you speak of your plans for professional development so that you can improve your skills as a teacher. We want to help you reach your professional development goals and support the good work you do.

We have a number of Mathematics Education Trust (MET) funding opportunities, with a focus on coursework and you in mind:

The main thing to remember is that thanks to the generosity of MET donors, you have our support. Grant and scholarship funding is available to you as a member of NCTM. Now, it’s your turn. We can’t wait to see what you will accomplish!

Okay, back to that original thought. When that chance to take an exceptional course (or do anything exceptional, for that matter) occurs, it’s important that you take it.

Don’t miss the MET webinar, An Introduction to Mathematics Grants and Scholarships from the Mathematics Education Trust (MET), on September 6 at 7:00 p.m.
    Speakers:
    Linda Fulmore and Richard Seitz
