Bridging Connecticut's Mathematics Gap
Connecticut is the state with the largest gap in student achievement across socioeconomic status as measured by the 2011 NAEP, and I have had the privilege of working in an urban high school that serves many student on the lower end of this spectrum. I have recently moved into a leadership role within my school that allows me the unique ability to lead in the construction of a cohesive mathematics program that reflects current best practices. Specifically, I am interested in learning more about how teachers can use technology, curriculum, and assessment to maximize our student's potential. It is my hope that attendance at the NCTM Annual Conference will facilitate new learning. Upon returning from the conference, I fully intend on leveraging my new knowledge to improve my classroom, my district, and reach out to teachers on a national scale.
