    Music & Math…Better Together!

Hillel math and music teachers will learn how rhythm, music, and movement support mathematics education during this professional development workshop.  They will discover how to break down patterns by attribute, grouping, number, and order concepts that young children can master. Then, our teachers will learn to use Rhythm & Movement cards that help young children see, hear, and feel how pattern units are the building blocks of repeating patterns. We will explore creative movement activities that help children create and build their own rhythmic dance patterns.  Hillel educators will also explore how patterns lay the fundamental building blocks of music, dance, and mathematics while discovering how to teach the foundations of math by explicitly identifying and performing the grouping, sequencing, and part-to-whole concepts that are embedded inside patterns. Students' mathematical learning experiences will be directly affected by this professional development opportunity.
