Mathematics, Equity, and Education
As mathematics teachers, we know that we are the gate keepers to professions that are often more lucrative. Will we also be gate openers? Questions like these are worthy of discussion and solutions, which is why I hope to attend the NCTM annual conference. I hope to meet people that will help answer the question: how do we start to mend our broken system with empathy, respect, and mathematics? Because the greater the challenge is, the greater the need for community.
