On Fire in Conceptualizing Mathematics Among Colleagues and Students

Math is the key to opening doors for student success now and in the future! We, as educators, have to be on “FIRE” and create a passion for mathematics. The problems may be tough, but teachers must create an effective classroom and learning environment to ensure mathematical success for all students. As a school representative and a potential mathematics resource person for my district, attending this high quality mathematics conference will allow me to be able to effectively provide a wide variety of strategies, ideas, and resources to my colleagues. Students will persevere through mathematics concepts because my school and district will be equipped with resources and teachers. Teachers will encourage and facilitate students to think, justify, and illustrate their answers. As I become more enthusiastic in teaching mathematics, a candle is lit, that lights the candles of my colleagues and our students. We are on “Fire” for conceptualizing mathematics.
