Future Leader Initial NCTM Annual Meeting Attendance Awards
I have a great interest in engaging mathematics instruction. I teach at a Title 1 school and we are in our 3rd year of CCSS implementation. It is my goal to bring resources, engaging activities and rich tasks back to my campus so that teachers will feel more comfortable implementing CCSS math practices in their classroom now, and not be intimidated by CCSS. Our population needs to be engaged and have mathematics accessible to them. It is my hope that continuing my professional development post-regional conference and into the Annual conference, I can become a resources for my school community. Teachers seem to be afraid to engage in the process of doing mathematics with students and digging deep for understanding. I hope to make mathematics instruction more accessible to teachers and their students by learning from peers at the Annual Conference.
