    T.I.M.E. for Interviewing
Using interviews are an effective formative assessment (Wiliam, 2007; Fennell, Kobett, & Wray, 2017). Yet, they are perhaps the most difficult to manage in a whole class setting. Perhaps for this reason, interviews are rarely used to learn about students' understandings or to make instructional decisions. The focus of this action research project is to investigate different models for interviewing in order to identify a collection of options that are (1) efficient (i.e., manageable for a teacher with no aides) and (2) effective (i.e., provide useful data). The results of our T.I.M.E. for Interviewing action research will be shared through conference presentations and a published article in order to help other teachers take advantage of the rich data that can be gathered through interviewing students about their mathematical thinking.
