Promoting Equity Through the Study of our Mathematical Heritage

Through the study of our mathematical heritage, we can provide greater equity to all students. As we help students connect to mathematics by understanding the contributions of their unique cultures, mathematics will have more relevance in their lives and they will be more insired to learn. As a result of my study, I will create classroom activities and materials that will help mathematics and history come alive for students. Additionally, I will provide professional development for math and history teachers, so that these lessons and activities can be incorporated into the curriculum in an integral, relevant way.
