Improving Instructional Capacity through a Leadership Lens
The goal of this proposal is to secure monetary assistance so that I may attend the Annual Conference in Boston this April. I believe that attending the conference will allow me to grow both personally and professionally, most specifically with regard to my knowledge of quality mathematics instruction. As a group, educators in our country are currently facing numerous challenges. The level of rigor for our content and practice standards is increasing, and teacher evaluations are being tied more and more heavily to student achievement on standardized tests. Raising the bar on student achievement will be challenging, but is necessary, and success will require educators across the country to work together. As chair of the Math Department, I hope to attend the annual conference so I can help guide my school and surrounding community down a path to success as we navigate the changes and challenges ahead.
