Research and Education
I believe that research is vital for the growth of the teaching profession, but I have limited experience with the research community. The NCTM Research Conference would provide many exciting opportunities for me as a beginning teacher. I would be able to present the research I took part in last summer, explore many other issues in mathematics education and how they relate to myself as a teacher, and learn from experienced educators. Some particular topics of interest I have are integration of math and music, international education systems, the influence of textbooks, and the effect of socioeconomic status on math education.
