    Collaborating to Close the Achievement Gap

    Every student deserves a well prepared, engaging teacher who can bring life to each and every lesson. The cliché, “You use math every time you balance a check book or go to the supermarket…” is not appropriate for high school or for the 21st century, yet that remains the go to reason many still use. I want to meet with leaders in the field to inspire me on how math is changing the world of smart phones, Google searches, Uber, Amazon, and Twitter. Instead of balancing a check book, I want to unlock the world of mathematics and data science. I want students to get excited about mathematics and I want to hear from teachers who have achieved this after much vetting and reflection.
