Focusing on Mathematics
I teach Mathematics for two reasons: I love math and I love it when my students get enthusiastic about math. Because of this, I continuously look for opportunities to expand both my mathematics knowledge and pedagogy. When researching for professional development opportunities, I came across the Phillips Exeter Academy's 2016 Anja S. Greer Conference on Mathematics and Technology. The home page of the conference states "The primary emphasis of the conference is mathematics, focusing on the impact and applications of technology in the classroom” The description of the conference could not have fit my needs any better! The objectives of my proposal are thus simple. I will like to spend one week at Exeter studying mathematics from their amazing repertoire of conference leaders, communicating mathematics with the other conference attendees, and learning as much as I can about teaching mathematics.
