Thank You and Happy Holidays!
As 2016 draws to a close and the opportunities of a brand-new year approach, the Mathematics Education Trust (MET) Board of Trustees would like to once again thank all of its partners and stakeholders, without whom MET would be unable to create and fund grants, awards, honors, and projects that support
the improvement of mathematics teaching and learning.
Thanks to you and the honorees of named MET funds, we were able to increase funding amounts in the following categories this year:
Contributions during the year have helped to do the following:
•
Mathematics teachers attend conferences; increase and improve their competence and knowledge of math content; pay for technology and other tools to help teachers and student visualize and concretize math abstractions; create or incorporate elementary,
middle, and high school classroom materials or lessons to improve the achievement of student groups that have precious records or underachievement; connect math to other fields and enable students to better appreciate and understand mathematics; collaborate with math educators and
preservice teachers to conduct action research or classroom-based research in precollege math education.
•
Prospective mathematics teachers attend conferences, collaborate on action research, and receive financial support to help offset college and university expenses.
Our congratulations also go to all who applied for MET funding and achieved their professional development or academic goals for the year.
