    NCTM Releases Case Studies that Support Improvement in High School Mathematics

    Reston, Va. - April 8, 2019 - Today the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) released several case studies that support improvement in high school mathematics as outlined in Catalyzing Change in High School Mathematics: Initiating Critical Conversations.

    A year ago, NCTM released the influential publication Catalyzing Change, which called upon all individuals involved with high school math to move forward with significant changes. The focus on high school math stems from flat high school mathematics achievement over the last 30 years compared to progress made at the elementary and middle levels. Catalyzing Change was developed by high school teachers, district leaders, university faculty and mathematicians and identifies the vexing issues that have long plagued high school mathematics education.
