President Trump's Executive Order temporarily banning entry into the U.S. by citizens of seven countries has alarmed members of the Mathematical Association of America, the academy, and beyond. Its excessive scope will affect many MAA members, some whose livelihoods are directly affected, and others whose work depends critically on international collaborative efforts.
The Executive Committee of the MAA Board of Governors opposes this executive order, which is overly broad in its application and will hinder the global cooperation of mathematical scientists whose creativity can solve problems the world faces now and in the future.
