Early Addition: It Is in the Cards

Consider these strategies in light of recent research indicating both positive and negative effects of using numerals with young children who are transitioning to addition.
Three children are playing a math game in their preschool classroom. The children often play games like this, in which they roll one or two dice and then move an equivalent number of spaces along a path.
