NCTM CAEP Program Recognition Decision Rule

    Program Recognition Decision Rule (2012)

    For mathematics education program reports based on the NCTM CAEP Standards (2012) that are submitted to CAEP and reviewed by NCTM-trained reviewers, to achieve National Recognition, the program report must demonstrate all of the following:

    • More than 50% of the elements (essential and required additional) of each standard are met at the acceptable or target level.
      • State required mathematics content licensure tests and at least one additional assessments (#1 and #2) that collectively demonstrate an 80% alignment to each domain of the NCTM CAEP Mathematics Content for Secondary (or Middle Grades) are required to support Standard 1 - Content Knowledge.
      • At least two assessments (#1 and #2) that collectively demonstrate an 80% alignment to each domain of the NCTM CAEP Mathematics Content for Elementary Mathematics Specialist are required to support Standard 1 - Content Knowledge.
      • At least two assessments are required to support standards 2-6.At least one assessment is required to support standard 7.
    • Completer/candidate performance data from a minimum of two applications for an initial report or a minimum of one application for a response to conditions or revised report.
