Star and Verschaffel make the case that recent findings from cognitive science research can and should inform the learning and teaching of mathematics. As such findings have often been content-generic, the authors focus on research that is specifically mathematics-oriented and stems from work in mathematics classrooms. The chapter introduces promising findings related to the implementation of beneficial practices in classrooms.
