Statistics education is a fast-growing research domain, reflecting a sharp increase in international interest in understanding how students reason about and learn probability and statistics. The authors use an integrated approach that recognizes how statistical inquiry provides opportunities for students to develop both probability and statistics concepts, while also recognizing that each domain has unique elements of study. The authors also highlight the findings of research on teachers’ knowledge of probability and statistics.
