Professional development is critical for improving teachers’ knowledge and practice, and thus for improving student learning. Sztajn, Borko, and Smith synthesize current knowledge about the impact of individual mathematics professional development programs, bringing such programs to scale, and comparisons of different programs. They also highlight issues that are important to continue to address when conducting studies of mathematics professional development.
